Overview[ | ]

Robots are the player-controlled characters of the game that move around the board and attack one another to win the game. Their other key feature is that they come in five classes, and different classes can combine to create more powerful robots. Choosing the right robots to put onto your team is one of the most crucial parts of playing A.E.G.I.S. Teams of robots are controlled by Commanders, human characters that serve as the player's avatar.

Story[ | ]

In the lore for the game, the machines you fight with in A.E.G.I.S. dot the landscape of Sigaea, and have been dormant for hundreds of years. Children play on them, city squares are built around them and birds roost inside of them while they gather moss. No one acknowledged these metal marvels, they were just around, no different from the trees and mountains. The robots were awakened by the young hero Ainer to defend his people from the oppressive Empyreal Realm. This action led to a global arms race and series of battles known as the Five Nations War.

Robots are ancient technology not fully understood by the modern humans of Sigaea. They're all made of a self-repairing metal-plastichybrid material that allows their forms to change wildly and combine with each other. Humans have figured out how to modify and customize them to an extent with various weaponry. The Commanders that control robots in battle, generally control the robots mentally from afar, though some choose to ride on or inside their machines. Robots' forms can also change based on the Commander's mood and personality, and in-universe, robots can end up looking different every time they combine, de-combine, self-repair, etc.
